Jane VIII:

Challenge Level:

Medium

Backstory:

Jane VIII represented the cutting edge of the now-defunct Super Sniper program. The seven Janes who preceded her have had their collective consciousness downloaded into Jane VIII's psyche. When Jane VIII takes a shot, it's like having eight trained Snipers focusing on the same target. But in the quiet of night, it's chaos inside her head, as all the horrible memories from eight careers of killing come back in waves. She’s hoping the Military Compound will hold the key to freeing herself from the voices in her head.

Basic Ability: Trick Shot

Jane VIII’s Basic Ability gives her the ability to ignore leaving space for the Bullet when isolating the Primary Target. That’s a huge advantage! Especially in the higher level maps, where space in the Kill Box gets tight. Of course, this means that setting up the power requires some work and sacrifice. You must both activate your Recalibrate and use it for this function instead of its normal ability.

Adrenaline Ability: Multiple Perspectives

This power can really open up your options during the Target Phase. When selecting your Active Focus, you may trade it for any Focus on your Locate Grids. The Focus you trade with does not have to fit on the Locate Grid (just pile it on top). You also do not need to have earned the Exchange Bonus to use this power.

You’re going to want to earn your Recalibrate Bonus pretty much every time. If you are able to easily isolate the Primary Target with room for the Bullet, you can ignore the power and use your Recalibrate normally. But, if you can make the Kill more quickly by using this power, you’ll have it ready. When facing J@[/]u5, be aware that they can remove your power for 3 turns, so you may not want to rely on it unless they’ve already spent their ability.

When she has Adrenaline she can freely use it during the Locate Phase and then trade for it to use again during the Target Phase.

Strategy When Playing as Jane VIII:

Strategy When Playing against Jane VIII:

There’s not much you can do beyond potentially stalling her from getting the Recalibrate Bonus using your Recalibrate to take away a Breath Focus. If you are playing as J@[/]u5, holding onto your Basic Ability can force your opponent to think hard about setting up their own.

AI (Solo):

Challenge Level:

EASY

AI Basic Ability: Trick Shot

This power simply changes one of the win conditions for the AI. Normally, they win if there are ever 7 Focus in surveillance. Jane wins at 6.

AI Adrenaline Ability: Multiple Perspectives

When the AI has reached the number of Focus needed to complete either their Target or Surveillance (as indicated on the reference card and based on the Location number you were located at), all Environment Focus (purple) are automatically added to the side that is not yet complete, regardless of shape.

Pay attention to the AI’s LOS and consider using your Recalibrate to prevent or delay their win condition.
