Gunhead:

Challenge Level:

EASY

Backstory:

“Gun-Head”, as he has come to be known, is a salvaged MDK-01 sniper bot from the last war. Rebuilt to serve as a laborer, he soon grew his own personality from the classic cowboy show that his mentor would leave playing on the old TV in their one room shack. He eventually developed a moral code and sense of responsibility to protect the weak from the strong.  When his mentor passed, he began traveling from settlement to settlement, helping people in need. He rescued Jane from the horrible Super Sniper experiments when she was a young child.  They travelled the wastelands together for a time, but one morning after a reboot, Jane was gone, leaving only a Lockett with her picture and a hand drawn image of Gun-Head.  15 years later he learns that she has become a Super Sniper and is rumored to have lost her mind, resulting in the deaths of dozens of innocents. Gun-Head, conflicted, scours the lands in search of her.

Basic Ability: Overdrive

Gunhead is an ideal character for new players. His Basic Ability gives him immediate access to Bonuses during the Target Phase. He is also the only character with the ability to use the Recalibrate and Concentrate Bonuses more than once a round. Note that activating a Bonus that is already active doesn’t do anything. Additionally, because the Exchange Bonus stays active throughout the round, you cannot activate it twice.

Strategy:

Depending on the Focus coming up in your LOS, you may want to use this power right away; use the Bonuses, and then potentially activate them a second time. Or, it might be best to activate them with Focus first, use them, and then activate again later using Gunhead’s ability. Either way, the most efficient use of this power is to use your Bonuses twice. That said, don’t let this blind you from seeing a quicker path to victory that doesn’t require this.

Adrenaline Ability: Machine Learning

This power is great because, even if it never activates, it forces your opponent to think hard about using their Bonuses and giving you a free turn. When facing the AI, this power is activated whenever you play a Focus that is the same shape and color of one that is already in their Target or Surveillance piles.

This is the time to take advantage of your Bonuses if you can. Your opponent will probably be playing without the help of Bonuses (or helping you if they do) and you will have the potential of using them twice.

Versus Gunhead: Only use your Bonuses if it can bring you the win, or if it puts you more than a move ahead.

AI (Solo):

Challenge Level:

Medium

AI Basic Ability: Overdrive

This power gives the AI an alternate completion option for their win condition. When they collect a Time (gold), Environment (purple) and Breath (gray) Focus in their Target or Surveillance piles, that pile is complete, regardless of whether it meets the normal conditions. The AI wins whenever both piles are complete, whether by this measure or the numbers indicated for their Location.

Strategy:

Watch the AI’s LOS and consider saving your Recalibrate to take a Focus from them to prevent them from making a set.

AI Adrenaline Ability: Machine Learning

This is identical to the player version of the power.

Similar to taking on a human opponent, only use your Bonuses if it can bring you the win or if it puts you more than a move ahead.
