Artemis:

Challenge Level:

EASY

Backstory:

Artemis is the enforcer for an environmentalist cult called the Green Dawn, who have discovered a way to use the Super Sniper serum to trigger a "New Genesis" of flora and fauna on earth.  Her blood alone has been enough to help create a small "New Eden" for the Green Dawn and they're fanatical about spreading Eden to all corners of the earth.  She is off to seek the last known remaining supply in the military compound.  Failing that, Sirius' dead body could be used to create at least another Eden or two.

Armed with cybernetically-enhanced vision and special arrowheads that she can trigger to accelerate indefinitely mid-flight, Artemis brings her legendary hunting skill and her fellow fanatics to the battlefield in search of Earth's salvation.

Basic Ability: Tracker

Artemis is a great character for newer players as her abilities trigger automatically and require little from the player. Tracker rewards you with an extra surveillance every time your opponent reveals a Miss during the Hiding Phase. And, you will never be far behind your opponent, as you can immediately identify their Location as soon as they find you. Note that the power is only active during your Locate Phase, meaning it no longer matters if they reveal a Miss once you’ve entered the Target Phase.

Note: In Duel Mode, If your opponent reveals a “Miss” on the same turn that you locate them, you still gain the surveillance. In Quickdraw Mode, you only gain surveillance if they declare a Miss before you reveal their Location.

Adrenaline Ability: We are Legion

Artemis’ advantage is strongest during the early rounds of the game, where there are the most opportunities for your opponent to select the wrong hiding location and for you to benefit from being found. In those rounds, you are best served by getting as much surveillance as possible while spreading your Focus out over all the Locations. This gives you more opportunity to gain extra surveillance when they reveal a “Miss” and/or flexibility to quickly finish locating your opponent when they reveal their Location after finding you. If you notice that your opponent is stalling to try to prevent this, you can change up your approach and finish searching Locations faster to try to get ahead. When you are down to one Location in front of you, the power becomes effectively meaningless.

When you have Adrenaline: If possible, getting multiple Innocents onto your opponent’s LOS early puts you at a big advantage, as they will be unlikely to mitigate it any way other than skipping a turn. In general, the threat of this power has an effect even when it doesn’t trigger, as opponent’s will be reticent to use their Bonuses in case they need them to counter the power.

This power uses the might of your cult followers to overwhelm your opponent.

When playing with Artemis, it is important that your opponent understands the Adrenaline power. If playing Quickdraw and your opponent has not yet refreshed their LOS, set the Innocent above where the 3rd Focus should be when you announce that you’ve isolated them. They can place the Innocent on the Focus when they do refresh. If two Innocents are isolated at the same time, then put them both on the same Focus. They must be removed individually. When a player de-activates the Exchange Bonus, the Focus in the Reserve is no longer useable. Skipping a turn to remove an Innocent also resets any inactive Clear Tokens. If an Innocent that is on a Focus is no longer Isolated on the Target Grid, they must be returned to the Target Grid.

Strategy when playing as Artemis:

Strategy when playing against Artemis:

In the early rounds, you may as well take the time to get all the surveillance from a Location before searching it. If you reveal a Miss, they gain advantage, but you’ve at least limited it to a 1 Focus advantage. In general, it’s better to let them find you first and be prepared to quickly catch up, then to take the chance of giving them a big head-start on the Target Phase. As the rounds progress, you can worry about this less.

When she has Adrenaline: Grab your Bonuses early and look for opportunities to stall their ability to isolate Innocents quickly (such as stealing a Focus with the Recalibrate).

AI (Solo):

AI Basic Ability: Tracker

This ability is essentially identical to the player version. If you have located Artemis while she is still in the Locate Phase, she will ignore the color of Focus and place them at your hiding Location until she reveals you.

AI Adrenaline Ability: We are Legion

This is where Artemis gets tough. This power is identical to the player version except that it is the Innocents that you isolate that populate your Focus.

The strategy here is similar to a live player, except that you always know the AI’s next move. Pay attention to what Focus are coming up in their LOS and concentrate on getting surveillance until after they’ve located you. As with Duel Mode, this becomes less of a consideration as Locations start getting eliminated in later rounds.

When she has Adrenaline: Time out your isolations so that you are either ready to deal with them or will be able to complete the Kill before they reach the front of your LOS and become a problem.
